While nothing compared to the east cost, St Louis got a pretty good snowstorm last night. The weather, combined with President's Day, no school, store closures and cancelled meetings might have left you with a bit of extra space in your day. What to do? Plan some networking!
Steal a snowy moment to:
- Make a list of your networking goals. What do you want to learn? Where do you need help? Who do you want to meet?
- Print out a business canvas and start idea-dumping. A canvas is a great way to focus your ideas, whether you're building a business, recruiting volunteers for your nonprofit or thinking about your own value proposition. Here's a great template (thanks, strategyzer).
- Think about your top three. What are the most important points of your message? Features of your product? Skills you have to offer? Get them down on paper.
- Use the above to start building your elevator pitch.
You can grab a worksheet on filling out your business canvas and building your pitch here, there are even some exercises to help you get started.
Congratulations! You are now ahead of the game.
